Michell Instruments is East Cambridgeshire Business of the Year

Michell Instruments has won three East Cambridgeshire Business Awards, including the prestigious Business of the Year.

The awards were announced at a ceremony last week, held at the Lady Chapel, Ely Cathedral, during which the judges described Michell as ‘gem amongst the East Cambridgeshire community’. The company was voted Employer of the Year, recognising Michell’s impressive employee long service record – which averages 15 years – and its apprenticeship programme, amongst other key indicators. They were also voted Medium Business of the Year in recognition of the company’s impressive record of growth since moving to Ely seven years ago, its strong export performance and the continued investment in manufacturing and new product development.

On top of these two awards, Michell also won the main award of the evening – Business of the Year. This category is not entered directly, but is chosen by the judges from the winners of the other categories.

Michell’s CEO, Mike Bannister, said that ‘Winning these awards is a real boost for all our employees. It is great that all their hard work has had a positive effect for the company, and that this has been recognised by a panel of external expert judges. Our staff should be very proud of their achievements.’

Full details of the awards ceremony and the other winners are given on the Ely Standard website.
