More companies get into action for Addenbrooke's

Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust’s Business in Action for Addenbrooke’s corporate network, launched by the Cambridge News in April, welcomes three new members this month: Kier (Eastern), Nautilus Training & Management and Eagle Quality Ltd. All companies are getting involved to fulfil their corporate social responsibility objectives, while making a difference for patients.

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) plays an important role in today’s business world.  Signing up to the Business in Action for Addenbrooke’s corporate network gives local companies the opportunity to demonstrate that they are ethically and socially responsible, they take into account the needs of the local community and show respect for the wellbeing and development of their staff.

Companies can choose to join the network as either a Gold or Silver member for a donation of £1,000 or £250 respectively and will then enjoy a host of business and staff benefits, including invitations to exclusive networking events, staff development through the Corporate Ambassador programme, discounted event tickets, marketing opportunities, and a discounted recruitment package with the Cambridge News.

Founding Gold members of Business in Action for Addenbrooke’s, ARM, Domino Printing Sciences and Strutt & Parker, have been joined this month by Kier (Eastern) and Nautilus Training & Management. The network also welcomed the very first Silver member, Eagle Quality Ltd.

Ian Stevens of Eagle Quality Ltd explained he has a very personal reason for joining,I have personal experience of the incredible service provided at Addenbrooke’s.  I underwent prostate surgery at Addenbrooke’s in December last year and am so thankful for the specialist treatment I received that has enabled me to resume a normal life again. My visit made me realise that without the fundraising support that is received, I possibly would not have been able to have the latest technology, access to the finest professionals and receive such expert care. It is for these reasons that I am supporting Business in Action for Addenbrooke’s, to help ensure that the same care continues to be provided to others.”

Martin Rayner, Business Development Manager at Kier explained, “Kier is extremely pleased to join Business in Action for Addenbrooke’s, as we feel it is important for local businesses to support ACT in their fundraising for Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie hospitals.  We are very much looking forward to being actively involved and taking full advantage of the benefits on offer in the coming months.”

Peter Scott from Nautilus Training and Management said, “We have elected to sign up to Business in Action for Addenbrooke’s in support of Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust as we recognise that many of the fantastic things done by Addenbrooke’s would not be possible without charitable support.  As a family, Addenbrooke’s has given us such fantastic care and support over the last few years and we cannot think of a better way to show our thanks than by committing our business to this great cause.  The value of a business is measured on its ability to create money and although this is of course the key driver for success we feel that we have a responsibility beyond the business, to if possible make a change for other people who may find themselves in a less fortunate position.”

Michelle Gray, Head of Community Fundraising at ACT said, “We are thrilled that Business in Action for Addenbrooke’s is being recognised by more and more companies as an ideal way for them to meet their CSR objectives.  Member companies can take advantage of a wide range of benefits secure in the knowledge that their support is helping to contribute towards making outstanding healthcare available to all.”
