More new, modern Council homes for South Cambridgeshire

Families will soon be enjoying more newly-built, modern Council homes in two South Cambridgeshire villages thanks to a building programme with the District Council and Redrow Homes.

A deal has been signed for the 23 new Council homes at the Redrow Homes developments in All Saints Gardens in Barrington and Cottenham Grove in Cottenham.

All homes benefit from modern double-glazed windows and high-quality insulation as well as boasting a high specification on the build. Some homes also have Electric Vehicle chargers.

Cllr John Batchelor, Lead Cabinet Member for Housing at South Cambridgeshire District Council, said: “We are thrilled to announce the signing of contracts for our latest housing project, delivering brand new Council homes for the community. With a strong commitment to addressing housing needs, we take pride in providing good quality, affordable options for our residents. These new homes reflect our dedication to fostering a thriving and inclusive local environment, ensuring that everyone has access to quality housing. Together, we're building a stronger, more connected community for the future."

 In Barrington, 13 homes will be available at ‌All Saints Gardens:

  • 2 x 2 bed shared ownership houses
  • 4 x 1 bed masionettes for affordable rent
  • 7 x 2 bed terraced houses for affordable rent.

‌In Cottenham, 10 homes will be available at Cottenham Grove:

  • 2 x 3 bed shared ownership houses
  • 2 x 2 bed shared ownership houses
  • 2 x 1 bed masionette affordable rent
  • 4 x 2 bed terraced houses affordable rent ‌

Cllr Dr Aidan Van de Weyer, District Councillor for Barrington, commented: “I am so pleased that South Cambs is able to provide Council homes within the new All Saints Gardens development that will allow people in Barrington and the district to live close to friends and family. With the cost of housing so high in our area, it is more and more important that the Council can increase the numbers of affordable houses.”

In a joint statement, District Councillors for Cottenham, Cllr Annika Osborne and Cllr Eileen Wilson, said: “We are delighted that the District Council has acquired 10 much-needed, new and affordable homes in Cottenham. We are sure the families moving into them will be very pleased with the high-quality build and the modern facilities they offer, and we wish them every happiness in their new homes.”
