The news follows the announcement last October that the University of Cambridge will divest from fossil fuels and pursue a dedicated net-zero plan, and similar commitments from Christ’s, Clare Hall and Pembroke.
As the richest Cambridge College, Trinity, with land holdings of 13,335 acres that have been valued at £730 million, this is a move of national significance.
Daniel Zeichner MP said: "This is hugely significant. The student-led campaign for divestment has been a constant in my time as MP. I am delighted that consistent, evidence-led campaigning and persuasion, has led to this day.
"What is exciting now is that Cambridge is leading on promoting the transition to a low carbon world by focusing on research to achieve this.
"As we look forward to hosting COP26, Trinity's decision is a huge boost to the global vision of a sustainable and equitable zero-carbon future.”
