My real-life Cinema Paradiso: how 80s films helped me become a Hollywood interpreter

One Stop Language Solutions writes: I'm delighted to be back with this month's edition of my newsletter, where I’ll share the story of my career as an interpreter, and how my high school teacher inspired my love of the English language. You'll also get a sneak peek at a new blog I've been writing where I discuss how remote simultaneous interpreting (RSI) platforms have evolved since they exploded in popularity during the pandemic. And I’ll be talking about some of the assignments my team and I have been working on recently.

Long-time readers of my newsletter will know that September is one of my favourite months. It feels like a fresh beginning after the summer: a chance to look at my business afresh, set new goals and tackle them with fresh energy. It’s also my birthday month, so I’ll be squeezing in a dinner with my family at The Nest at Treehouse London - a truly magical rooftop bar that offers unparalleled 360-degree views of London from the outdoor wraparound terrace.

It was lovely to see a flurry of new subscribers join my list over the summer. If that’s you - welcome! For those who don’t know me yet, I’ve included a quick recap of my interpreting journey later in this newsletter, by way of introduction.

Also in today’s newsletter:

  • A busy summer
  • Remote simultaneous interpreting platforms in 2024
  • My story
  • What my team and I have been working on
  • An offer from my friend Mike Roberts
  • My most popular LinkedIn posts

Head over to my LinkedIn newsletter to find out more and if you'd like to get my next newsletter delivered straight to your inbox, you can sign up here.

Happy Reading!

Luciana
