New campaign encourages local event organisers to 'Keep it in Cambridge'

A new initiative to encourage Cambridgeshire businesses and organisations to ‘think local’ when choosing venues for events has just been launched.

Keep It In Cambridge is the brainchild of Conference Cambridge, the free venue-finding service for the University, Colleges, hotels and other unique properties in and around Cambridge.

The Campaign highlights the benefits of choosing a Cambridge venue which includes: enjoying a completely unique experience that can’t be matched anywhere else in the world; the knowledge that in choosing an academic venue in particular that you are contributing to the educational legacy and essential maintenance of the City’s world-renowned historic buildings; and the fact that the City is compact, walkable and accessible – with Cambridge International Airport on the doorstep and easy access from London.

It also underlines the fact that Cambridge can offer so much more to event organisers than just a venue; the team at Conference Cambridge are urging organisers to make the most of the abundance of unique activities available in the City for enhancing a meeting or event including themed walking tours of the City, tours of the Colleges, punting on the River Cam and enjoying Evensong at King’s College Chapel.

As part of the initiative, a team from Conference Cambridge will be touring businesses in the region, visiting conference and events organisers to thank existing clients and offer support and information for new ones.

Kelly Vickers, Manager at Conference Cambridge said: “Keep It In Cambridge is a call to everyone in the area – whether you’re a business, an organisation or an event organiser – to work together and focus on staying local for meetings and events rather than searching further afield. We want to demonstrate the vast range of meeting facilities right here in Cambridge – from historic academic venues to award-winning contemporary spaces – as well as hotels and other unique properties in and around the City.

“Our message is – not only will you be holding an event that delegates will remember, you will also be supporting the local economy with visitor and accompanying partner expenditure extending to eating out, shopping and making the most of the Cambridge experience.

“At Conference Cambridge, we make it easy for event organisers to do business here by providing a one-stop shop for venue suitability and availability, as well as providing all the local knowledge and contacts to make their event a success. As part of Keep It In Cambridge, all the venues in our portfolio will be offering a range of incentives and special offers to anyone booking a meeting in Cambridge through us”.
