Orphans' safari is thrown a Lifeline

Cambridge businesses came together last week and the sun shone brightly on Citystay’s Summer Party at Madingley Hall.

The Serviced Apartment Company brought local businesses together for an evening of food, drinks, wine tasting, games and a raffle, with all proceeds’ donated to The Lifeline Fund, a charity that Citystay staff hold close to their hearts.

Rather than simply making a donation, the money raised on the evening will be funding a once-in-a-lifetime safari excursion for 50 orphans who are looked after by The Lifeline Fund. Minibus transport, lunch, teachers and guides will be laid on as the children visit the Lengwe National Park to see antelope, hyenas, leopards, impalas and even elephants all protected within their natural habitat.

The Citystay summer party began with a Champagne reception in the stunning grounds of Madingley Hall and croquet on the lawn. A jazz pianist accompanied the playing of giant garden games as guests mingled in the balmy summer evening. As the sun began to set, wine tasting sessions were enjoyed along with a delicious barbecue in almost African heat.

As the evening drew to a close, guests from a wide range of companies enjoyed a short presentation from Citystay MD, Neil Fernandez, who spoke about the work of The Lifeline Fund in Malawi before the raffle. The money raised from the evening helped Citystay’s total donation to the charity pass the £68,000 mark.

The evening was a wonderful success and Citystay would like to thank all who supported the event and all local companies who donated such wonderful raffle prizes.
