PA has committed to minimising its emissions in line with 1.5°C temperature rise by 2030, with the aim of reducing its absolute scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 75 percent by 2030 from a 2019 base year. The company plans to increase active annual sourcing of renewable electricity from 13 percent in 2019 to 100 percent by 2030. As part of its climate ambition, PA will also reduce scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 55 percent for every million GBP of value by 2030 from a 2019 base year, and aims to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by 2040.
The company is well on the way to meeting its direct emissions targets. The refurbishment of its Global Innovation and Technology Centre has improved the roof insulation and air handling systems, and it now sources renewable electricity, creating a significant reduction in direct carbon emissions. PA has plans to invest in further measures over the next five years, with the aim of cutting over 90 percent of its scope 1 emissions. The business is also taking a range of steps to minimise its indirect emissions, from carefully managing business travel, to collaborating with suppliers and clients to reduce emissions together.
We are proud to have our science-based emissions targets validated by the SBTi, marking the latest milestone on our sustainability journey. PA places great value on sustainability, both within our own operations, and in our work with clients – from helping them take pioneering sustainability solutions to market, decarbonising their businesses and supply chains, or embedding environmental practices into their strategies. SBTi’s validation reflects our ongoing commitment to reducing our carbon footprint, and also means we can say with confidence that our goals align with the 1.5°C trajectory that we claim.”
