This new service, offered in conjunction with member company Redpalm Technology Services, will allow businesses to certify to a cyber-security framework. The scheme will provide clarity on what essential security controls are required, and once you are approved you can gain competitive edge over competitors by promoting that you have met a Government approved cyber security scheme.

This service will be launched at Cambridge’s biggest B2B networking event by Jason Ablewhite, the Police and Crime Commissioner for Cambridgeshire, when it returns to Quy Mill Hotel & Spa on Thursday 21 September.

John Bridge OBE DL, Chief Executive of Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce, said: “Small businesses are the main target for cyber-attacks and statistics indicate that 60 per cent of small companies go out of business within six months of an attack. Cyber Essentials can reduce your risk of attack by up to 80 per cent and we encourage companies to attend this launch at 11.00am to hear more about how this service can help to protect your business.”

An inspiring programme of seminars has also been announced for the exhibition, and businesses can find out how to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) coming into force next May, gain tips on sales when you’re in a non-sales role and hear the benefits of Google Adwords. Two sessions of speed networking during the day will also offer visitors and exhibitors the opportunity to extend their network of contacts and facilitate connections with some of the 650 visitors expected to attend.

Jenni Misseldine, Events & Training Co-ordinator at Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce, said: “GDPR is a hot topic and this seminar will help businesses to enhance their internal data systems to ensure they are compliant with new regulations ahead of the enforcement deadline in May.”

Cambridge B2B Exhibition showcases over 85 local companies from Cambridgeshire and is organised by Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce in partnership with Cambridge News and supported by The Cambridge Roar and Marketing Magic.
