Bidwells’ Golden Triangle Cycle Challenge took place on Thursday 21 September, starting in Oxford, with a midway point in Milton Keynes and finishing in Cambridge, where there was an After Party at Ansty Hall complete with Bidwells-branded beer and street food.
Participants had the option to cycle the entire Oxford-Cambridge route of 100 miles or Milton Keynes to Cambridge which is 50 miles
The Challenge succeeded in raising a total of £20,000 for CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably), an award-winning charity dedicated to preventing male suicide, the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK.
Senior Partner Patrick McMahon who participated in the Challenge said: “I am delighted that our second Golden Triangle Cycle Challenge was a huge success – thoroughly enjoyed by the 350 participants and raising more than £20,000 for CALM – and hope that it becomes an annual fixture in the property industry calendar.
“I would like to thank all our clients, contacts and staff for taking part, as well as those helping with organising the event at our three offices – and of course our sponsors Grosvenor, Hill, Cole and Beard for their generosity and support.”
CALM aims to prevent suicide by providing help to those who need it – by working with others to improve understanding of suicide and what services and policies work best and by fostering cultural change so that men can talk about issues and get help when things start to go wrong. CALM challenges cultural barriers that prevent men seeking help in a crisis such as assumptions around men being the strong and silent type.
