The public consultation period runs until Friday 9 May 2014.
Drop-in sessions that will be open to the public will be held at Gravel Hill Farm, Madingley Rise, Madingley Road, Cambridge CB3 0FU on:
- Saturday 12 April from 10.30-14.30
- Thursday 24 April from 18.30-20.30
- Monday 28 April 18.30-20.30
The University of Cambridge Primary School will be a three-form entry primary school that will provide high quality education to all its pupils. The proposed primary school will be open to local children aged 4 – 11 and will be a mixed-ability co-educational school. It will be a highly inclusive school in which pupil diversity is welcomed and where all children will be encouraged and enabled to excel. It will not have a specific religious character, nor a particular faith ethos. Its admissions policy will be developed in consultation with existing Cambridge primary schools, as an expression of the University’s commitment to the principle of partnership. The school will be linked closely to the University’s Faculty of Education and will join the well-established network of partner schools in the area.
Earlier this year the Department for Education supported the application made by the University of Cambridge to open a new primary school with nursery and teacher training in North West Cambridge, which will open in phases from September 2015, subject to the completion of a funding agreement. The current consultation is to determine whether there is support from the local community for the Primary School to enter into a funding agreement with the Secretary of State for Education. This consultation is a requirement of Section 10 of the Academies Act 2010.
Members of the public will be able to find out more about the primary school due to open for the academic year 2015/16 and give their feedback on the proposals. For more details CLICK HERE.
