Conference Cambridge saw the number of enquiries in July and August increase by 30% compared to the same two months last year.
During July and August, the team took 568 enquiries worth £6m for events of all types, from large residential conferences to one-day meetings and corporate dinners. This compared to 434 enquiries in the same period last year; in August alone, the enquiries received had an approximate value of £4.1m as opposed to £1.9m in August 2013.
2014 as a whole is also showing excellent business growth, particularly in the number of enquiries from agents looking for venues for their clients, which is up by 39%.
Kelly Vickers, Manager of Conference Cambridge, said: “Traditionally July and August have been quiet months but our latest results show this is definitely not the case. These figures mirror the increase in the number of enquiries received from January to August 2014, which is up 11% on the same period last year.
“These figures demonstrate that Cambridge’s meeting venues are clearly becoming more popular. Our portfolio offers organisers a wide choice of traditional or contemporary properties, all of which offer excellent learning environments coupled with first class AV support and high standards of catering.
"The city is itself a unique experience for delegates, with its wide selection of cultural and social activities; we are thrilled at the increase in interest we’ve experienced this summer in Cambridge as a destination for meetings and events.”
