Will Ponder has a wealth of experience dealing with patent drafting, patent prosecution and contentious matters, and has enjoyed considerable success before the EPO Opposition and Appeal Boards. He has a background in physics, but handles a broad range of technologies, from mechanical inventions and medical devices to microprocessors and software. Will advises some of the firm's largest overseas clients and manages large patent portfolios, covering many different jurisdictions. He also advises UK based businesses and individuals, particularly in the Cambridge area.
Robert Sackin is part of R&G’s electrical, electronic and software team. His practice focuses on patenting software and other computer-implemented inventions including consumer electronics especially smartphone technology, set-top box technology, and telecommunication networks. Robert has expertise in software for the financial services industry and especially electronic trading systems used by the world’s largest banks. Robert has a track record of obtaining patents for clients, particularly in the US, in this technically and legally complex area.
Pete Sadler is a European and Chartered UK Patent Attorney with almost 10 years of experience advising his clients on protecting their innovations. Pete specialises in the electronics and software fields, including broadcasting technologies, control systems and smart phone apps. He has extensive expertise in drafting patent applications and running cross jurisdictional prosecution for domestic and overseas clients, ranging from start-ups to multinationals. Pete also advises on infringement issues, helping his clients to make the right commercial decisions when faced with competitors’ patent rights.
Tom Sharman is a dual-qualified patent and trade mark attorney in our advanced engineering team, working with UK-based start-ups, SMEs and multinationals in the mechanical engineering, automotive engineering and consumer products sectors. Tom handles all aspects of the running of patent, trade mark and registered design portfolios, working with clients to develop and manage their IP protection in the UK and key global markets and advising generally on IP issues affecting their businessest
