According to research there will be more Internet-connected mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets than people in the world before the end of this year. That means websites need to be mobile-friendly. It also means more and more business is likely to be conducted using those devices.
At next week's Breakfast Briefing, two Network members who are helping others to manage these monumental changes will provide fascinating insights and demonstrations of the latest technology:
- Simon Jones, Founder and Technical Directorof Studio 24, will talk about digital business development and technical advancements in the world of the web; specifically the effect of the increased use of mobile devices and the open source solution, Responsive design. Using a case study from Crossrail, he will show how this emerging technique enables flexible web pages to be created which adapt to the browser window and deliver appropriate content to the user– whatever the device.
- Terry Hunt, of Comms-Solve Technologies Ltd., will talk about how a new breed of tech savvy employees –used to working on mobile devices any time, any place, anywhere– is prompting business owners to rethink their communications strategies to stay competitive. He will explain why integrated communications policies are a necessity in today’s business environments, a briefing essential for any IT manager or business owner keen to understand the new world of fully integrated communications.
All members are welcome to this event, which takes place from 8am-10am at The Hauser Forum, 3 Charles Babbage Road, Cambridge, CB3 0GT.
"We're delighted with the way the breakfast networking sessions have taken off over the past year - we've had popular sessions on international trade, an HR workshop, and a session on marketing and technology; all at the suggestion of our members, and this one is no exception," said Louise Rushworth, Events Manager.
This session should be relevant for IT managers and decision makers, web developers, marketing managers and anyone with an interest in the future of web technology. There will be a small charge of £15 to cover the cost of breakfast (bacon rolls, by popular demand!) and room hire.
