Sellite Blocks Limited is located at Great Heck near Goole. It manufactures a full range of lightweight building blocks for the construction industry and builders merchants. Howard Group and the Glancy family have owned and managed Sellite for over 40 years.
Colin Hope the Managing Director of Sellite and now a new shareholder in the business has led the company highly effectively through the current economic downturn. He has successfully grown sales even in this tough economic climate.
Commenting on the transaction Colin Hope observed; “Having owned and managed Sellite Blocks for over 40 years the previous directors Howard Group and Glancy family faced the most difficult recession in recent times within the construction industry. On top of this they had to cope with the very sad and huge loss of Nicholas Glancy the MD. This was an enormous loss to the business and the remaining shareholders and employees should be congratulated for their commitment to keeping the company going. Another blow was the sad passing of Ken Glancy in 2012. Ken and his brother formed the company in the 60’s and whilst Bill died very early on Ken played an active and influential role to the very end. As the new owner I am looking forward to further developing and building on the very good and long established name of Sellite Blocks Ltd”.
Tom Amies, Finance Director of Howard Group said “We are absolutely delighted that Colin has chosen to purchase the business. There is no one who we believe is better placed to lead Sellite and its loyal staff. Without Sellite’s skilled and loyal workforce it would not have earned such a strong reputation in the industry for high-quality blocks.Colin is highly regarded by suppliers and customers and he understands the business having worked for many years in the sector. We believe there are significant benefits for Sellite as an owner-managed business. Colin is already implementing exciting plans to invest in new and sophisticated production plant and equipment which will position Sellite well for the coming years”.
The Howard’s and the Glancy family are grateful for the services of all the staff and of Colin as managing director and wish them the very best in the next phase of the life of Sellite.
