The science sector could be missing out on unlocking Neurodiverse potential by not knowing about this UK Government scheme

Companies in the science sector in the Cambridge area could be missing out on unlocking latent strengths of neurodiverse employees because they either don't know about or avoid using the UK Government's Access To Work Scheme.

Access To Work Strategy Coaching Sessions for neurodiverse employees from John Hicks Co Ltd.

Did you know that if you are having difficulties at work that are related to you being neurodiverse i.e Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia etc, then it is possible that you are missing a huge opportunity to unlock your potential as you try to manage feelings of poor self-esteem, fear and lack of confidence.

Whilst Neurodiversity is considered a disability according to the UK Government's definition, the reality is that whilst you may have a more specific set of weaknesses due to Neurodiversity, you will also have some huge strengths too that could make you stand out for all the right reasons at work.
If you disagree with me then perhaps you just haven't discovered those strengths just yet.
When my clients start to see their strengths then those weaknesses no longer dominate as there is more confidence in managing them and joy in unlocking their potential.

Unlocking potential?

  • Less distractibility,
  • Less procrastination,
  • More creativity and problem solving ability,
  • Better people skills, influencing and managing others,
  • Increased productivity and innovation,
  • More joy, energy and focus on making a positive difference at work.

A win-win for you and your employer.

Here is some good news, the UK Government can provide you with free coping strategy support through their Access To Work Scheme. Time spent objectively working with a professional on what needs to be put in place so as to unlock your best work is valuable time.

On top of this support the UK Government will fund specific hardware and software solutions according to the needs of individuals.

If you are Neurodiverse and feel that you are currently struggling to be your best within the workplace or if you are a HR professional who knows of individuals that are struggling then do check out the Access To Work Scheme.
