We were contacted by Cambridge University Human Rights Law Society (CUHRLS) and invited to speak to their members on the issues faced by people experiencing homelessness in the city.
Students were enthralled by ITAC trustee and Big Issue organiser Lee Welham’s stories of navigating a system that can feel confusing and disjointed. Lee also explained how ITAC and others supported him in rebuilding his life.
Chris Dade, ITAC Services Manager, used his in depth knowledge and experience to answer questions about how the housing system works for those at risk. He was also able to tell students more about Crossways, our winter emergency accommodation project.
Attendees were asked to bring small store cupboard items and we thank them for the generous donations. Robyn and Isabella from CUHRLS will deliver the goods during a visit to Crossways.
We look forward to working closely with CUHRLS members in the coming months.
‘We have had such positive feedback, and the students loved hearing Lee’s stories and understanding more about how the housing system works with your amazing insight Chris. Thanks again!’ Isabella, CUHRLS President.
