The new intake join eight current trainees who have completed the first year of their training contract.

Newly qualified solicitors

Following the successful completion of their training contracts with Howes Percival, five newly qualified solicitors have decided to develop their careers with the firm.

Anna McCormack has chosen to specialise in commercial disputes and insolvency matters; Kate Melton has been appointed to the employment law team; Katherine Palmer has been appointed to the commercial property department; Alex Sims will specialise in employment law; while Hope Wilson will specialise in commercial disputes.

Howes Percival Partner and Training Principal, Simon Murphy commented: “Our people are our most important asset and, the recruitment and training of solicitors as a vital part of the future development of Howes Percival. Our well-respected trainee programme is core to what we do and trainees are a valued and integral part of our business.

“Since the lockdown, we’ve had to approach how we work completely differently, including how we manage the trainee programme. It has meant making a lot of changes to the way we run the programme, for example, we’ve just completed our 2022 recruitment round by virtual interviews. It is going to be very different for the current group as the emphasis is normally on their induction, getting to know each other, meeting the wider team and working closely with their supervisor, but they have been brilliant and we have worked out ways of doing everything.

“The high number of trainees who choose to stay with us once qualifying is testament to the quality of our training programme and the supportive working environment we offer. We’ve a reputation for promoting from within wherever possible - several senior Howes Percival lawyers, including partners, joined us as trainees. I’d like to extend many congratulations to Anna, Kate, Katherine, Alex and Hope on their qualification - we’re delighted that they’ve decided to continue their career with us.”

Howes Percival is a winner in six categories in the LEX 100 - a comprehensive guide to training contracts at the UK’s top law firms. (2019/20 edition).
