Droplet combats dehydration in care homes, hospitals and at home by encouraging people to drink. Droplet is the invention of Ellie Van Leeuwen, a Product Design graduate from Bournemouth University. Ellie’s aim was to develop a solution to dehydration among elderly people in hospital and in care.
“I wanted to develop a product to help vulnerable people to drink more - to make it easier for patients to be reminded to drink more frequently, and also for healthcare professionals to know when one of their patients wasn’t drinking regularly enough. It’s wonderful to now see patients and carers benefiting so greatly from Droplet - the feedback we’ve had has been phenomenal.” Ellie Van Leeuwen, Product Inventor.
Droplet has been designed so that the cups are familiar, lightweight and easy to grip. The smart base includes a voice reminder function which allows family and friends to record reassuring messages to remind the user to drink regularly. Droplet has been developed in partnership with Spearmark Health with input from over 100 healthcare professionals.
“Droplet is a really simple yet life-changing product. We are delighted to have been able to contribute to this project, it has been exciting to see a new product and assist in its delivery to various sectors.” Ellie Morgan, Head of Digital Marketing, Studio 24
