Talk on how ARU Peterborough will boost business

New university Assistant Principal, Dr Tom Williamson, to address Institute of Directors

Dr Tom Williamson

ARU Peterborough’s Dr Tom Williamson will address local businesspeople about how the region’s new university will help their businesses thrive at a meeting of the Cambridgeshire Institute of Directors (IoD) on 5 July.

Dr Williamson will be speaking alongside the IoD’s Chief Economist, Kitty Ussher, who will be giving an update on the latest economic picture for the region.

Dr Williamson, Assistant Principal of ARU Peterborough, said: “We have some great businesses and many very talented entrepreneurs in this part of the world, but the current economic climate is making things difficult for everyone.

“With the people and resources we have at ARU Peterborough we will be in a great position to help businesses of all sizes thrive. I’m very much looking forward to having the opportunity to talk to the members of the IOD about the contribution ARU Peterborough will make to the local business community.”

ARU Peterborough will offer a range of support to businesses upon opening in September, including access to academic experts who can provide consultancy, or collaborations with companies to commercialise new discoveries.

ARU Peterborough will also help businesses access business support programmes and specialist facilities and take part in workshops designed to enhance the skills of employers and their teams.

ARU Peterborough has worked with over 170 local employers to address skill shortages in the area and co-created courses that will prepare graduates for rewarding high-skilled jobs across the region.

Details of the meeting are on the Institute’s website . The meeting is open to non-members of the IoD.
