Taylor Wessing announces five UK appointments to partnership for 2020

Taylor Wessing has announced that five of its lawyers in the UK have been promoted to join the partnership with effect from 1 November 2020*.

The firm has promoted lawyers with significant expertise in their specialisms and well-established relationships with clients in the Technology, Life Sciences, Financial Services and Private Wealth sectors.

Commenting on the promotions, Managing Partner Shane Gleghorn said: "These five outstanding individuals are highly valued by our clients for their deep sector knowledge and expertise. Their appointments reflect our confidence in their talent and leadership qualities and ability to support clients with the wide range of challenges and opportunities arising now and in the future."

The new partners are:

Jonny Bethell – Private equity

Jonny is a corporate partner in the private equity group. Jonny advises across a range of industry sectors, with a particular focus on technology transactions. He advises private equity and other institutional investors, portfolio companies, management teams and corporate clients on complex UK and cross-border acquisitions, disposals, investments and restructurings, as well as general corporate matters.

Stuart Broom – Disputes & investigations

Stuart is a partner in the disputes & investigations group. He advises clients on a broad range of commercial disputes and investigations in the professional and financial services sectors. With particular expertise in professional negligence actions and regulatory investigations, Stuart specialises in claims and investigations in the accountancy profession, having acted on many of the most high profile disputes and regulatory investigations in that sector.

Rachel Davison – Private client

Rachel is a partner in the private client group and she specialises in advising wealthy families and individuals on tax and succession matters, frequently with an international and cross-border focus. In particular, Rachel has a wealth of experience advising clients with US connections and is an expert in cross-border planning. Rachel also has extensive experience in advising individuals in relation to HMRC enquiries, including where these interact with concurrent non-UK revenue authority enquiries, and the use of HMRC disclosure facilities.

Amanda Ebbutt – Patents & innovation

Amanda is a partner specialising in patents with expertise in the life sciences, healthcare and technology sectors. Amanda specialises in advising and representing companies in patent proceedings in the UK and coordinating multijurisdictional patent litigation.

Edward Manser – Banking & finance

Ed is a partner in the banking & finance group and specialises in real estate finance in the UK and Europe. He has significant experience in investment and development financing for all asset classes including operational assets, logistics and build to rent. Ed advises on highly structured, cross-border corporate real estate transactions. He also acts for borrowers and all types of lenders and has specific expertise acting for debt funds, overseas banks and insurer lenders.
