Walkies! Paw-some dog walking challenge

Did someone say walkies? Arthur Rank Hospice Charity is excited by the return of ‘Lead On’ - it’s fundraising event for dog lovers.

This September, four-legged friends and their “paw-some” humans are invited to join ‘Lead On’ - a 90km dog walk throughout the month, to raise funds for vital Hospice care.

The challenge involves walking 90km (3km a day) over 30 days from 1 September. Funds raised will provide care for people in Cambridgeshire living with an advanced serious illness or life-limiting condition and those who need end of life care, and help ensure their loved ones can access much needed support.

Precious pooches (with their human!) can complete their walks at any time, in any location and at their own pace. It is free to enter, and each dog will receive a dog bandana to proudly wear when they raise £30. Pups will also receive treats kindly donated by Grumpy’s pets store in Chesterton, and the chance to win an Animo Dog Tracker thanks to Sure PetCare.

Human supporters of all ages are welcome on the proviso they have (or can borrow) a dog!

Vic Kidd, Community Fundraiser at Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, said: "Lead On is a fantastic event which brings dog lovers together to help support our patients and their loved ones. Completing regular walks throughout September is a great way of boosting your wellbeing, whilst raising funds and vital awareness for Hospice care in Cambridgeshire”.

“Via our Community Facebook page, we’ll be supporting the dogs and their walkers and encouraging everyone to share tips, progress and cute pics. Our supporters’ dedication, commitment and generosity are invaluable in sustaining services for people requiring hospice care in our community.”
