Why marketing matters for social enterprises

StartChange, a co-creation of the Centre for Enterprise Development and Research (CEDAR) at Anglia Ruskin and Future Business, is for those leading, starting or even just thinking about starting a social enterprise, and need the tools and inspiration to build or improve their business. 

The free event will look in detail at the different marketing challenges facing social enterprises; consider the marketing options available to them; introduce attendees to a novel ‘visual’ approach to creating a marketing plan and give all those attending the opportunity to complete their own visual marketing plan for their idea or venture.

The workshop will be run by Senior Lecturer Ben Mumby-Croft, Deputy Director of CEDAR at Anglia Ruskin and an expert in marketing and brand development.

CEDAR delivers a range of learning, research and consultancy services to entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial businesses, while Mumby-Croft also runs his own visual marketing consultancy, is non-executive director of social enterprise Microgenius (www.microgenius.org.uk) and also mentors numerous other early stage startups in the Cambridge region.

“Understanding branding and marketing is key to getting any venture off the ground and is particularly relevant to social enterprises,” said Mumby-Croft. 

“The visual marketing plan format we’ll be using during this session is both highly accessible and ideal for those looking to inject fresh creativity and ideas into their marketing efforts. We’re looking forward to sharing this knowledge and experience on 29 November.”
