The Friends of Addenbrooke's is a new scheme for ongoing, regular supporters of Addenbrooke's and the Rosie hospitals.
This support helps Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust (ACT) to quickly and flexibly address areas of greatest and most urgent need across Addenbrooke's and the Rosie.
Dr Jag Ahluwalia, Medical Director at Addenbrooke's said: "Every time someone becomes a Friend, it increases our capacity to improve treatment and make patients more comfortable."
To become a Friend people are asked to set up a regular Direct Debit (minimum of £5 a month), or to regularly fundraise £250 or more a year.
- £5 a month could help make wards more dementia-friendly
- £10 monthly could help purchase a portable ultrasound machine for locating hidden breast cancers
- £20 a month could help fund a specialist calorimetry machine to ensure vulnerable babies receive appropriate levels of nutrition
- £250 a year could help develop new tests to detect prostate and bladder cancers in DNA fragments.
Friends receive regular news about the impact of their support and are invited to exclusive events throughout the year.
By becoming a Friend, people will be part of a long-standing tradition of local charitable giving that is helping to keep Addenbrooke's and the Rosie at the forefront of outstanding patient care and medical excellence.
