Exhibitors at the CUH Nursing Expo – a first for the Trust – range from experts in clinical genetics research and care of the frail elderly, to brand new mental health support tools for patients and staff.
Chief nurse Ann-Marie Ingle said, “Here at Cambridge University Hospitals we are proud to have some of the country’s most skilled and dedicated nurses. This Expo is all about celebrating the work that they do across the many services our hospitals provide.
“As chief nurse, I am incredibly proud to support all of the hard work our nurses do, and the contributions they make to the huge range of services we offer, from clinical research, to mental health.
“While browsing the stands, take a few minutes to talk to the nurses around you, and find out why CUH really is leading the way in world-class patient care.”
Other exhibitors at the Expo include Anglia Ruskin University, who will be on hand to speak to those interested in a career as a nurse.
Liz Morris is a specialist nurse at CUH, whose stand is sure to attract attention. She said, “There are over 6000 rare diseases, with a wide range of symptoms which vary from disease to disease and also from patient to patient. Our stand is all about educating people on how simple things like nosebleeds and bruises can be sometimes be symptoms of an underlying rare disease.”
There will also be talks from nurses throughout the afternoon, on the subjects of mini stroke and what has been coined ‘The Cambridge Method’ for the treatment of brain tumours.
