Zeichner 'delighted' as Cambridge City Ladies & Girls FC wins Community Club of the Year

On Monday (8 May) the winners of the 2017 FA Community Awards for Charter Standard Community Club of the Year were announced. Daniel Zeichner had, as MP, nominated Cambridge City Ladies & Girls FC for this particular award and on Monday the club was informed that it had won.

Sid Cullum, Cambridge City Ladies & Girls FC Chairman, said: “2017 has been one of the Club's most successful seasons on record."This award is the icing on the cake and is a fitting reward for all the hard work of everyone connected with the Club."
Daniel Zeichner, Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for Cambridge added: “I have worked closely with Cambridge United and Cambridge City both in my role as an MP and especially as a fan and I am delighted that the Ladies and Girls team have been recognised with this prestigious FA award.
“Football is, as we all know, the beautiful game, but it is thanks to the grassroots that our stars are born. More clubs need to follow the example set by Cambridge City Ladies & Girls FC and I wish them all the best for the regional awards into which they have been entered following their recent award win. ______________________________________________
