Commercial Analyst

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Commercial Analyst to join our team at GMSL, in this newly created role providing contract, pricing and client management support to the COO and Commercial Managers.

Commercial Analyst

In this newly created Commercial Analyst role, reporting to the COO and working closely with the Commercial Managers, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing contract, pricing and client management support in addition to researching the market, responding to new and existing client enquiries, updating sales materials and undertaking competitor analysis.

The responsibilities of the role include:

Contract Management and Pricing

  • Supporting the Commercial Managers with client support and contract management, including revisions and renewals.
  • Tracking commercial data and providing proactive commercial insights, analysis and recommendations.
  • Conducting pricing analysis and reviews and making recommendations.
  • Completing ad-hoc projects in support of the delivery of the GMSL commercial strategy.

Market Analysis and Insights

  • Conducting market research, competitor and trend analysis and collating and sharing findings and recommendations.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of GMSL’s service offering and the commercial and regulatory models in UK & Europe (e.g. Network Codes and applicable rules).

Client Communications

  • Managing inbound client enquiries and providing first line response and lead qualification.
  • Coordinating client meetings, contributing to presentations, presenting and capturing client information and commercial requirements.
  • Coordinating the development of sales documentation, brochures and materials.
  • Coordinating corporate events and exhibition attendance (UK and Europe) and supporting the Commercial Managers in identifying key commercial opportunities by following up leads generated.
  • Maintaining the website and LinkedIn page and ensuring all commercial-related information is made available, up to date and relevant to client needs.

Essential skills, knowledge, experience and qualifications:

  • A degree in a Business or Maths related field, or equivalent relevant professional qualification.
  • Practical and proven experience working within a Commercial Analyst, or similar role in the private sector.
  • Numerate and experienced with data analysis and manipulation.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights.
  • Experience in the software or energy industries is advantageous, but not essential.

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with the ability to take responsibility for tasks, prioritise and manage them to successful completion.

  • Proactive attitude and able to engage professionally with clients.
  • Reliable, with an understanding of confidentiality requirements.
  • Able to act as a professional representative of GMSL at all times.

Hours and location

The Commercial Analyst role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday) with a minimum of 4 days worked in the office due to the responsibilities of the role.

Our Cambridge office is centrally located in the Hills Road, CB2 area, within walking distance of Cambridge train station and the city centre; we have bike and car parking available.

Salary and benefits

The package for this role will be in the region of £40,000 to £50,000pa, depending on experience.
