BlueGnome expands into new facility

Cambridge-based BlueGnome, a leading provider of genetic diagnostic solutions for the screening of chromosomal abnormalities in cytogenetics and IVF, has expanded into a new state-of-the-art facility.

On 1st March over 125 guests celebrated with employees and their families as University of Cambridge Vice Chancellor, Professor Sir Leszek Borysiewicz, officially opened the new facility at Capital Park, Fulbourn, Cambridge.

Professor Sir Borysiewicz congratulated the staff of BlueGnome on the rapid growth of the company since its inception in 2002 – “an example of interdisciplinary success.”

Nick Haan, CEO, said “We are very pleased to have sustained rapid growth over the past 10 years. Our new facility provides a solid foundation for future growth as we continue to deliver innovative products to our core markets in cytogenetics and IVF.” BlueGnome’s continuing growth is reflected in a rapid increase in the company’s headcount and the recent opening of representative offices in Singapore and soon, Washington DC, USA.

The new facility includes state-of-the-art laboratories for R&D, production, quality control, and customer training which sit alongside open plan offices, shipping and stock areas.

In 2011 BlueGnome was ranked the 39th fastest growing company in the UK across all sectors in the Deloitte Fast 50, and was the second fastest growing company in the Cambridgeshire and East region. BlueGnome was also ranked the second fastest growing biotech company nationwide.
