Introduction to role:
The Credit Manager reports to the Associate Director of Credit Risk and is responsible for managing the global credit risk process. This includes conducting credit reviews, developing portfolio strategies, and overseeing approximately 65,000 customers. The role also involves leading credit blocked orders and securities administration. The successful candidate will monitor performance, formulate remediation plans, and collaborate with colleagues to ensure performance efficiency and a strong control environment.

We are accountable to the AZ Group for the design and delivery of high quality, simple to operate transactional finance processes which, combined with exceptional business analysis and insight, enabling our customers to focus on AZ’s strategic priorities. Our remit covers record to report, procure to pay and order to cash, tax, planning and forecasting and management reporting, to customers across AZ in Commercial, Science, Operations & Enabling Functions, Tax, Treasury and Group Finance.
We are one team - over 1,500 people operating globally through a combination of in-house captive and offshore business process outsourcing (BPO). AZ Finance continues to drive technology improvements, leveraging strong digital and robotics capability, which will underpin further GFS transformation and step change in service effectiveness and efficiency. AZ will have a world class finance capability, servicing high calibre individuals and GFS will continue to act as the talent pipeline for future AZ finance leaders.
The role is part of a global Order To Cash (“O2C”) team which sits within GFS. The O2C team has two key elements, the design team with ownership for the global processes and the operational delivery element. This role is in the latter team but we work together as one team across various global locations such as Cambridge (UK), Warsaw (Poland), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and San Jose (Costa Rica).
Accountabilities:
- Perform and approve credit reviews for all assigned accounts in a timely manner as per credit risk policy
- Understand and review external sources of risk information to make appropriate decisions or recommendations
- Provide support with system implementations, upgrades and ongoing projects
- Work closely with team members and stakeholders to manage account status, credit alerts, and agree on joint plans, and connect with colleagues globally to facilitate trade while managing risk
- Ensure all credit decisions are accurately reflected in appropriate systems to maintain robust operational control
- Ensure all accounts have sufficient credit limits for current and future trading levels
- Support the credit held order release process
- Handle transaction processing independently, including resolving complex queries and investigations promptly
- Review compliance with key controls such as Sox and doubtful debt and insurance portfolios
- Collaborate with key external partners and customers
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Extensive knowledge of financial accounting, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Has the exposure and agility to make recommendations with regard to very large credit limits where required
- Significant experience and understanding in B2B credit risk management and principles
- Able to communicate credit issues to all levels of the organisation.
- Knowledge and experience of SAP.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to develop good relationships with internal and external customers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Degree in business, accounting or finance, or equivalent
- Team management and SME portfolio experience.
- Understanding of the credit reference agency scoring process.
- Experience working in a shared service center across a global or large organisation.
- Understanding of letters of credit, bank guarantees, and corporate guarantees.
- Sovereign Risk experience
