We are looking to recruit an HR Administrator to join our small team at the Sainsbury Laboratory Cambridge University.
Your responsibilities will include performing general HR administration duties, using the University's HR information systems and coordinating the appraisal process. You will act as the first point for contact for HR related queries, such as advising on holiday entitlement and sick leave processes. You will also support recruitment, including advising on the recruitment process, setting up interviews and obtaining references, preparing documentation and carrying out right to work checks.
Our successful candidate will also provide administrative support for health and safety, so it is essential that you have experience in this area. You will be overseeing DSE self-assessments, as well as completing and organising risk assessments and delivering safety inductions for new starters. Experience of using the Cardinus DSE self-assessment portal is welcomed.
You must be educated to a minimum of A-level standard/NVQ level 3 or equivalent level of practical experience. You must also have previous HR or general administrative experience in a large organisation.
Our successful applicant will be a strong team player, keen to work in a highly collaborative set-up. You will need excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with a wide range of people. You will be proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently and to prioritise your own workload. You will also be highly solution orientated and have good attention to detail.
You must be competent in using all standard IT packages including Microsoft Office. A willingness to learn is essential, alongside knowledge of the principles of HR practice, ideally in an educational setting. Experience of using the University's HR systems is highly desirable.
