The Institute of Metabolic Science is recruiting a Laboratory Manager / Research Assistant with good organizational skills and robust expertise in mouse brain histology and confocal microscopy to join the group of Dr. Clémence Blouet, within a programme aimed at understanding the mechanisms through which brain nutrient sensing contributes to energy and glucose homeostasis.
The successful candidate will manage a vibrant lab 50% of the time and assist research projects 50% of the time. The studies will mainly involve brain histological approaches, imaging and image analysis, with opportunities to learn new skills in a highly multidisciplinary team. This is a full-time post, however applications from those wishing to work part-time will be considered.
Key responsibilities:
To be considered for this position, you must:
- possess a BSc degree or equivalent in neuroscience, biochemistry, physiology, or a related field.
- have robust experience with mouse brain histology techniques, confocal microscopy and image analysis.
- have skills in working independently to solve experimental problems.
- be self-motivated, creative, and curious.
- possess excellent record-keeping, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
