Taught MPhil Programmes Co-ordinator (Fixed Term)

The Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy in Cambridge is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our friendly professional service team to provide administrative support for our successful taught MPhil in Micro and Nanotechnology Enterprise programme and our brand new taught MPhil in Advanced Materials for the Energy Transition (AMET) programme starting in September 2025.

The post holder will be involved in all aspects of administration for the programme, from admissions to awards, supporting MPhil students and teaching staff, as well as organising teaching sessions and events. You will work closely with the 2 MPhil Directors, the Academic Secretary and the wider course team. You will be the first point of contact for a wide range of people including applicants, students, and academic staff. You will be well-organised, able to prioritise effectively and work to tight deadlines, have a good level of competence in standard software packages, and have strong attention to detail. You will be able to work independently on your own initiative but also contribute as a team member and be able to build positive working relationships with your colleagues in the MPhil team, Department and University. Training will be provided in the use of university systems.

Candidates must be educated to at least degree level /Level 6 vocational qualification or equivalent level of practical experience. Previous experience working in Higher Education would be desirable.

This is a full-time position working 36.5 hours per week. Funding for the role is currently for 5 years from commencement in post. The University is supportive of hybrid working, where some work is undertaken on University premises and some in a remote working environment. The aim of our approach is to enable as many staff as possible to work in a hybrid way if they wish and where their role allows.
