Jack Wright’s challenge involved swimming for one hour every day for five days at his local pool, Lensbury Resort, in July.
In total the schoolboy raised an impressive £1,060, surpassing his target of £1,000. He also beat his target of swimming 10,000 metres swimming a total of 10,150m.
The money will fund the care of a Tom’s Trust psychologist who will be able to give mental health support to a child with a brain tumour, as well as their family, for a full year.
Jack, who lives with his mum, dad and sister, said: “I chose to raise money for Tom’s Trust because it is a brilliant charity which helps children and their families at a really difficult time. I love to swim, and decided I would challenge myself and hoped to raise money for Tom’s Trust at the same time.
“After the first two lengths each day it felt daunting but completing the challenge was fun and I am so happy to have done it. I’m so pleased to have been able to raise this money for children who need help.”
