British Council announces shortlist for ELTons 2012

Three Cambridge University Press titles are on the shortlist for this year’s ELTons, the British Council’s awards for excellence in English language teaching.

The ELTons (or British Council Innovation Awards as they are also known) are offered to outstanding new language learning products and services that use innovative ideas to help learners achieve their goals.

For the first time, UK and international ELT professionals are competing alongside each other in the same categories, in recognition of the increased mobility and globalisation in the sector.

Cambridge is listed in three categories, with three different products.

Interactive

A vibrant four-level course for teens, with games, interactive practice activities, audio and video, that can be used in the classroom or for homework. There is even a comic builder to get students writing creatively.

Nominated for Innovation in Learner Resources

English Unlimited

A six-level course for adults that uses universally inspiring topics and activities – with a special focus on intercultural competence as a 'fifth skill' – to help learners become more sensitive, more effective communicators.

Nominated for Excellence in Course Innovation

Instant Academic Skills

Develops skills vital to academic success such as identifying key ideas and details, predicting content and efficient note-taking. Lively speaking tasks get learners ready to participate in debates and presentations.
