Cambridge agency invites golfers to design Luke Donald’s FootJoy shoes

Leading golf shoe brand FootJoy is offering golfers the chance to design a pair of shoes that world number one Luke Donald and a number of other top players will wear on the first day of the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth at the end of May.

Hertfordshire born Luke Donald, who currently tops the Official World Golf Rankings, is a loyal advocate of the quality and performance provided by FootJoy golf shoes - the brand that he chooses to wear week-in week-out on the world’s Tours.

Golf shoe and clothing specialist FootJoy has an outstanding online shoe design capability called MyJoys.  Golfers can use it to create their own personalised shoes from a wealth of different style and leather options and receive the finished shoes from the factory in less than three weeks.

The new promotion entitled ‘MyJoys May’ uses this design technology as a part of a microsite which features video ‘briefs’ from the players as to what they want in a shoe design.  Entrants simply then click through to the MyJoys website, design a shoe and submit their entry.

The prizes include pairs of tickets to the BMW PGA to see Luke or one of the other players taking part wearing the shoes that they designed, together with the enviable opportunity to design their own pair of MyJoys for free.

It’s an innovative promotion that has been brought to life by Cambridge agency and long-time FootJoy communications partner, Ware Anthony Rust.  “MyJoys shows-off FootJoy at its best” said Board Account Director Gareth Brookman. “Everyone who visits myjoysmay.co.uk can see for themselves just how easy it is to design and personalise a FootJoy golf shoe online. Entrants are often so pleased with the results that they share their designs via email, Facebook and Twitter.”

Myjoysmay.co.uk is the latest site to go live from Ware Anthony Rusts’s growing digital group.  Sites already launched this year include the wedding forum site unitedbrides.com and Cambridge Plus for South Cambridgeshire District Council.

Ware Anthony Rust also undertakes digital work for Bayer Cropscience, kitchen appliance brand InSinkErator and Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust.
