Cambridge Director completes fearsome double ski marathon challenge for children

Justin Hayward, Founder & Director of CIR, which celebrated 10 years of business in strategy consulting and conferences on 7 March 2012, has completed both charity ski marathons and returned to base. This type of challenge has recently been mirrored by royalty (Pippa & James Middleton) and BBC producers.

Having completed the 45km HalvVasan in Sweden in 3'34", Justin Hayward has come back from Pontresina, Switzerland where his GB nordic coaching group (www.totallynordic.com) was based for the 44th Engadin Ski Marathon, in which he and 12,000 people took part. His time was 3'16.00", about 18 minutes faster than the Vasaloppet-HalvVasan run, but 42km (26.5miles) and in freestyle skiing, which he has practicsd much less than classic style (and it showed!)

He was was ill with a cold, dehydrated in the dry air, and did not sleep much during the week of training at altitude in Switzerland, so is delighted to have been able to complete this second half of the challenge. Again, great organisation, and thanks for the mattresses on the trees in the Shaz Forest section downhill...

If you know Justin and/or are concerned about the well-being, love, listening to and nurturing of children in the UK, please visit http://www.justgiving.com/Justin-Hayward where Justin is raising funds for the NSPCC.

The NSPCC is now over 115 years old and has gathered immense amounts of experience of helping children and families across the UK and in working towards a society where all children are loved, valued and able to fulfil their potential.

Thanks for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page
