On Friday, 22 November, Cambridge MP Daniel Zeichner attended a special drop-in event for young people hosted by Inspire 2 Ignite at The Junction, Cambridge. Activities included a DJ workshop, where participants aged 12-24 learnt the basics of music mixing. The session also featured Curious Conversation Blocks, interactive tools designed to spark meaningful discussions, and a presentation by Michael O'Toole, CEO of the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation (CCF).
Inspire 2 Ignite supports young people across Cambridgeshire, particularly those who are not in education, employment, or training (NEET) or at risk, including care leavers and individuals in alternative education settings. Through collaboration with community and corporate partners, the organisation delivers hands-on experiences in entrepreneurship and industry, raising aspirations and creating new opportunities for the future. This drop-in event is part of their ongoing mission to create a brighter future for all young people.
Daniel Zeichner MP commented, “Inspire 2 Ignite is doing fantastic work empowering young people in our community. Their creative approach to building skills, confidence, and connections is invaluable, especially for those who face additional challenges. It’s inspiring to see such impactful efforts being made here in Cambridge.”
CCF plays a key role in improving quality of life across the county, having awarded over £32 million through more than 10,000 grants to local charities, schools, and community groups over the last 20 years.
He added, “The Cambridgeshire Community Foundation plays an essential role in connecting local projects like Inspire 2 Ignite with the resources and support they need to thrive. Their work makes a real difference, and I’m proud to champion their efforts in strengthening communities across the region.”
