Cambridge MP takes on new Science and Technology role

Cambridge MP Daniel Zeichner will sit on the Science and Technology Committee. The cross-party Committee undertakes detailed scrutiny of Government policy and monitors the Government Office for Science which is based within the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.

The Committee has a broad remit and can examine the activities of departments where they have implications for, or made use of science, engineering, technology and research.

Daniel said: “Cambridge is a world leader in science and technology so I am delighted to be able to take on a key role in ensuring the Government understands the policies that our ground-breaking companies and universities really need.

"My role will be to provide leadership, ask tough questions and rigorously scrutinise government policy.

"I am also keen to look at new ways to inspire the next generation of science and technology innovators.”
