Cambridge shows solidarity with Paris

Following the Paris attacks, the French community in Cambridge is organising a rally to stand in solidarity with the victims, their families and the people of Paris.

People will gather tomorrow (Friday 20th November) at 2pm outside Great St Marys, Senate House Hill, Cambridge, CB2 3PQ and observe a minute of silence.

Local MP Daniel Zeichner and MEP Richard Howitt will be in attendance and lay bunches of flowers.

Daniel Zeichner MP said: "All our thoughts are with the victims of this senseless violence and we stand in solidarity with the people of France.

"When I first heard the news, my mind immediately went back to the attacks in London. I was working nearby and remember hearing the blast on the bus. Later I walked past and I will never forget those dreadful images. It leaves you feeling sick.

"Cambridge is a tolerant, diverse and welcoming city and is it fitting that we stand shoulder to shoulder to mourn but also to say that terrorists will never destroy our way of life."
