Cambridge stands together

A gathering will take place tomorrow (Tuesday 28th June) at 5pm outside the Guildhall following the EU referendum results. This will be one of a number of events held in cities including London, Oxford, Manchester, Cardiff and Liverpool.

Politicians and community activists will address the crowd.  Keynote speaker, Cambridge MP Daniel Zeichner will say:

“I am proud to be Cambridge, proud to be British, proud to be European.

"Cambridge overwhelmingly voted to remain a member of the European Union and it is deeply sad that our result was not replicated across the country.

“I know across Cambridge many people are aghast at what has happened, as indeed are progressive people across the rest of the country and Europe.

“Together we must seek to rebuild bridges. We must show the world that Britain is still the inclusive, open and outward-looking nation we know it to be.

"You and I don’t fear internationalism, we fear isolation.

"Cambridge stands together.”
