Driven by a profound connection to the cause, Oscar’s determination shone through on the day. Navigating the labyrinthine network of the capital’s tunnels and platforms, he successfully conquered 222 stations in less than 14.5 hours.
Oscar, in Year 10 , had hoped to undertake the challenge back in 2020, but his plans were cancelled due to the pandemic. He also completed a trial run back in 2023, but only managed to get round 197 stations. Originally, Oscar set himself a modest fundraising target of £500, but has been overwhelmed by the support and generosity of friends, family and well-wishers. Currently, he has raised over £1,400 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Commenting, Oscar said: “I’m blown away by the incredible support I’ve received. Every single donation brings us one step closer to making a difference to the lives of those affected by cancer. After losing my own Granny to Myeloma in 2023, and having my Grandad diagnosed with prostate cancer, this is my way of thanking the people who are trying to find a cure and supporting patients!”
Will Chuter, Headmaster at Kimbolton School, said: “Oscar’s London Underground endeavour serves as a reminder that no challenge is too daunting when fuelled by passion and purpose. His selfless dedication to honouring his Granny’s memory and supporting cancer research demonstrates both resilience and compassion. Well done Oscar! Everyone at Kimbolton School is immensely proud of your determination to make a difference in the fight against cancer!”
