Tom’s Trust, which is based in Whittlesford, Cambrigde, hosted the fundraising day on Saturday 18th June at Newmarket’s July Course, where guests were served a drinks reception, gourmet lunch and an afternoon tea, while enjoying an afternoon of horse racing as well as a live auction and a digital auction.
Smashing the charity’s target of £40,000, which would fund a psychologist for a year to support hundreds of children with brain tumours, as well as their families, a total of £41,540 was raised.
Debs, Co-Founder of Tom’s Trust, said: “Everyone had such a fantastic day and it was wonderful to see everyone dressed up and enjoying the racing. We raised so much awareness for the work we do and the children we help, and we are over the moon to have reached our fundraising goal. We’d like to give a huge thanks to all the local business and people who made this event happen.
“We will now be able to expand the work we do across the UK, for so many children who desperately need more mental health support during such a difficult time in their lives. More than 500 children are diagnosed with a brain tumour in the UK each year, and we hope that one day we are able to support all of them, and importantly their families too.”
The day was sponsored by Thoroughbred Racing Commentary (TRC) and Gallop and Tom’s Trust would like to give an added thank you to Langham Press in Cambridge, as well as all the other organisations which donated prizes, bought tables and gave donations.
