Cambridge City Council’s Neighbourhood team provided a varied programme of activities over the holiday period including cheerleading workshops, an Olympic family fun day, multi-sports, dance workshops and much more.
The programme of activities for children, young people and their families ran across a number of parks and community spaces in Trumpington, including the new housing developments.
The programme attracted over 650 attendances this summer and eight young people also got involved in volunteering over the summer holidays and earned time credits* by completing tasks such as supporting drama workshops, running crafts at the family fun day and setting up and packing away projects for younger children.
Cllr Richard Johnson, Executive Councillor for Communities, said: “We have been really pleased with the response to our summer programme in Trumpington and the feedback we have received has been very positive.
“It is encouraging to see how young people are developing a range of skills as well as having fun as a result of the activities on offer.”
The Neighbourhood team will start their term time programme in the area during week commencing 12 September. Further information is available on the council’s website at: www.cambridge.gov.uk/trumpington
