Anglia Ruskin University’s Law Clinic has expanded its free legal service to cover personal injury and medical negligence claims via online consultation.

The Law Clinic was set up in 2018 and works in partnership with local law firms to offer free, independent and confidential legal advice face-to-face in Cambridge and Chelmsford, and across the country through an online service – giving communities vital access to justice. ARU students volunteer in the Clinic, providing them with valuable experience.

While the Law Clinic has traditionally focused on family, immigration and employment law cases, it is now offering assistance with personal injury and medical negligence claims through its online service.

The Law Clinic recently assisted its 3,500th client and from this week, National Pro Bono Week (6-10 November), it will also reintroduce its Support@Court sessions, with experienced ARU students providing moral support and guidance to litigants in person every Wednesday from 9.30am until 1pm at Cambridge Magistrates Court.

Sarah Calder, Director of the Law Clinic at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), said: “The Law Clinic continues to expand its service and we are delighted to have reached another milestone number of clients.

“Expanding our service to include personal injury and medical negligence allows us to reach clients who might struggle to find ‘no win, no fee’ representation, and anyone who would like to find out more about this service, which is offered online to anyone in the UK, should get in touch.

“We are also delighted to again offer our Support@Court initiative, restarting it during National Pro Bono Week. Attending court can be an extremely nerve-wracking experience and offering some support and assistance can help people prepare properly.”
