Cambridge, United Kingdom: East and South East Asian (ESEA) Cambridge, a group of volunteers committed to setting up a supportive community for ESEA members in and around Cambridge, are to host their second ESEA Cambridge Heritage Fair 2022 at the Storey’s Field Community Centre in Eddington on Sunday, 9th October.
The event celebrates East and South East Asian Heritage Month which marks an important moment in British-Asian history. The first Heritage Month dedicated to East and South East Asians in the UK was held last year, thanks to a campaign initiated by the British East and South East Asian network (BESEA.N).
In collaboration with Cambridge City Council and UK Education Garden, ESEA Cambridge Heritage Fair 2022 celebrates the culture, history and social contributions of individuals from British East and South East Asian communities through performing arts, literature, cultural workshops and food culture.
The day’s programme has an exciting lineup of food, performances and workshops representing cultures from China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Taiwan.
The event is also committed to providing a space for small businesses and non-profit organisations from the ESEA communities to showcase their offerings and services to the wider community. From Mandarin school, music classes to teach the Tsugari Shamisen (a traditional Japanese string instrument), martial arts, East Asian painting, folk dancing to storytime with an award-winning South East Asian children’s author, the day is set to keep all ages entertained throughout the day.
Exhibitors include: Eva Wong Nava, Cambridge Chinese Academy, Mando School, Hack Lab Cambridge Academy, Jonathan Tan, Yi Zhong Yang Style Tai Ji Society, Eco Japan and Noralisa.
An array of food trucks and vendors will also be there representing seven different countries from across ESEA. Vendors include: HK HitWrap, Sakura Bakery, Lingling’s Steam Kitchen, Swilipino, Thai Home Cambridge, Savour, The Baking Jin, Kang Chiao Bakery, Pancho, J&G’s Ice Cream and Dessert, and Liz Sequera.
Melissa Lee, President of ESEA Cambridge said: “We are thrilled to be able to host the ESEA Heritage Fair Cambridge 2022 once again and hope that with the support of the ESEA communities and wider support locally, we can continue to represent and promote inclusion of everyone who identifies with ESEA heritage.”
She added: “Getting involved in the community matters so that we can continue to give space for ESEA individuals to showcase their accomplishments, share their knowledge and experiences."

The ESEA Heritage Fair Cambridge will open its doors from 10.30am until 4pm.
