Entrepreneur in Residence Dr Soraya Jones joins KTN board

Dr Soraya Jones, Entrepreneur in Residence at St John’s Innovation Centre, the leading early stage incubator in Cambridge, was appointed to the board of the Knowledge Transfer Network on 18 June 2015.

 

The Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) is the UK’s Innovation Network; connecting people to speed up innovation, solve problems and find markets for new ideas.

Established by Innovate UK in April 2014 to build better links between science, creativity and business, the Knowledge Transfer Network has specialist teams covering all significant sectors of the economy from defence and aerospace to the creative industries, the built environment, biotechnology and robotics.

Dr Soraya Jones was the founder CEO of the successful Cambridge Wireless cluster prior to joining St John’s Innovation Centre as Entrepreneur in Residence in May 2015.

David Lockwood, Chairman of the KTN Board, comments: “Soraya brings a wealth of experience in engaging and supporting SMEs, and in understanding their growth issues and challenges.

"Her expertise and background in working with over 400 membership companies within the wireless ecosystem will help advise the board on business challenges currently being faced in the industry. Soraya will be a valuable asset to the team and we look forward to her contribution.”

Jones further commented: “It is an honour to join a prestigious board of influential business leaders and to be one of two female members on the KTN board. I am looking forward to helping drive the innovation agenda with SMEs in the country.”

St John’s Innovation Centre was founded in 1987 by St John's College, Cambridge, the first pioneering business incubator of its kind in Europe. The Centre now provides almost 5,000m2 of managed workspace and flexible leases, currently occupied by around 87 companies and is also the base for around 350 virtual tenants most of whom are also startups.
