Residents of Peterborough and Cambridge are being invited along to events being put on by Anglia Ruskin University in June.
Pam Smy, Senior Lecturer in Illustration, will look at the wonderful range of illustration published for children of all ages and predict which will be the most popular books in this genre in the near future.
The talk will take place at Cherry Hinton Library in High Street, Cherry Hinton, Cambridge on Wednesday 11 June. It is being put on in partnership with Cambridgeshire County Council and will run from 7pm until 8.30pm. To book for this free event, call 01223 695060 or visit our Community Events page.
Also on Wednesday 11 June, Anglia Ruskin's Senior Lecturer in History and regular on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, Dr Sean Lang, will look back on what it was like to live in Cambridgeshire during the time of the British Empire. In the Victorian era, the Empire played a huge role in the lives of local communities, in sometimes surprising ways.
Discover more by attending the talk at 7pm at Peterborough Museum in Priestgate, Peterborough. Tickets cost £2 for adults and £1 for concessions. To book, call the museum on 01733 864663 or email museum@vivacity-peterborough.com.
Another event being put on in partnership with Peterborough Museum takes place on Friday 13 June. 'Surgery past, present and future' will see John Redmond, Senior Lecturer for the Department of Allied Health and Medicine at Anglia Ruskin University, talk about the history of surgery in Peterborough.
Universities Week runs from 9 June and aims to inspire people to get involved and discover the work universities across the UK are doing to improve the way we live our lives.
Anglia Ruskin's Community Engagement Officer, Miriam Berg, said:
"Universities Week will give Cambridgeshire residents a chance to see how Anglia Ruskin plays a vital role in the community.
"There's something for everyone, whether you have an interest in Cambridgeshire's role in history, enjoy the wonderful world of illustrated children's books, or are interested in dissecting Peterborough's surgical background."
