Free fun for children and families during half-term

The programme kicks off on Saturday 22 October with a Big Draw event at Brown’s Field Youth and Community Centre, Green End Road. Part of a national campaign, the Big Draw encourages people to embrace creativity and drawing whatever their skill level or experience.
 
This year, the event will focus on science and art. Scientists from the Wellcome Genome Campus will be joining ChYpPS on the day with a variety of fun activities.
 
On Monday 24 October at Trumpington Pavilion, ChYpPS will run a ‘Have your Say Day’.  This will provide young people aged 9 to 13 with an opportunity to say what they like and do not like about their local area and to suggest what could be done to make their area better.
 
The day will consist of a range of workshops including fun games that will help the young people to express their thoughts through art and video.
 
ChYpPS will also be taking a group of children to Amey recycling plant to learn about recycling and waste management. The day will involve a tour of the site, fun activities and the chance to do some up-cycling.
 
ChYpPS will end the half-term programme with a ‘Spooky Boat Party’ aboard the Community Play Boat on Jesus Green on Friday 28 October. The event will include storytelling, treats, craft activities and optional fancy dress.
 
Cllr Richard Johnson, Executive Councillor for Communities, said: “Once again, our ChYpPS team has come up with some fun, stimulating activities for young people over the half term holidays.

“The programme offers a chance for young people to come together for some creative fun, to learn some new skills and to let us know what’s great, and not so great, about their community.”
