Funding on offer for groups tackling inequality

Non-profit voluntary and community organisations are being invited to apply for grants from a Cambridge City Council fund for 2017-18.

The council’s community grants fund exists to support groups working to tackle social and economic inequality and to help those city residents in most need.

Groups have until 3 October to submit grant applications for funding to pay for sporting, arts, cultural and community development activities. Organisations providing legal, financial or employment advice can also apply.

Applications will need to show how activities will contribute to one or more of the council’s priorities around improving health and wellbeing, bringing communities together, improving employment opportunities or creating a stronger voluntary sector in the city.

Cllr Richard Johnson, Executive Councillor for Communities, said: “Our community grants will help to support those groups that make a real difference to people’s lives in tackling inequality and disadvantage in Cambridge.

“We will focus our resources on assisting those groups that can show they will help people in the greatest need.”

Two workshops will be run jointly by the council and Cambridge Council for Voluntary Service (CCVS) to guide applicants through the application process.

These will both take place at The Meadows Community Centre, 1, St Catharine’s Road, Cambridge CB4 3XJ:

Tuesday 6 September  6.15 – 7.45pm
Monday 12 September 10.15 - 11.45am

Booking is essential – email grants@cambridge.gov.uk or call 01223 457875.
