It Takes a City (Cambridge) were delighted when Sue Gowling, founder of Laptops4Learning, visited Crossways recently to deliver another batch of refurbished smartphones to Chris Dade, services manager. The phones will enable guests to stay connected to family, friends and other sources of support.

This is part of a new initiative between It Takes A City (ITAC), Laptops4Learning and Wintercomfort, who will be providing data as part of the National Databank scheme administered by the Good Things Foundation.

Those receiving the phones will also be given advice on where they can find digital skills support.

People experiencing homelessness are often excluded from the benefits of being online, whether through having no phone, no data, or even a way to recharge their device.  ITAC continue to work with the Coproduction Group, including those with current lived experience, to find innovative and sustainable ways to ensure this situation improves.

Laptops4Learning continue to support not just those who are homeless or vulnerably housed, but also refugees, local families or individuals in need of digital support.
